Two decades of failed Republican leadership out of the governor’s office has left our state faltering. Quite simply, our state government has failed to take the steps necessary to promote a better, safer and healthier Connecticut.

Our state and its people are losing out and needlessly suffering as a result.

We have all witnessed, with disgust, as Jodi Rell and her administration have careened from one failure to the next while pretending each step of the way that all is right with the world.

Rell’s failure to honestly and aggressively tackle the serious issues we face reminds me of Winston Churchill’s observation that for some “success is going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm”.

Driven by her unending quest to remain “popular”, Governor Rell has defaulted on her obligation to serve as Connecticut’s chief executive officer. Quite frankly, our state government has become an $18 billion sinking ship without a captain.

While reasonable people can disagree about who should be the Democratic nominee next year, we cannot let our differences keep us from remaining focused on the fundamental goal of electing a Democratic governor and beginning the process of undoing 20 years of Republican mismanagement.

CT2010: A Democratic Governor for Connecticut is dedicated to one task—and one task alone. We will focus exclusively on the fundamental elements needed to produce a winning strategy—Voter registration, Absentee ballots, Get-Out-The-Vote efforts and highly targeted programs to educate and win over persuadable voters.

To perform these tasks and achieve our goal we need your help. We need your ideas, we need some of your time and energy and finally, to succeed, we need your financial support.

A donation – whether it is simply $20 or the maximum of $750 allowed by law will provide the resources needed to develop the political operation we need to win.
